Forever Knight was the re-telling of an old tale. The immortal vampire falling in love with the innocent human, knowing that to act on his desires would kill her. Or worse turn her into what he has come to despise- a vampire. So she works to cure his vampirism. It has seldom been done better than it was with the characters of Nick Knight & Natalie Lambert.

The series ending was among the most powerful television to date. Even now it's difficult to sit down and watch the last few episodes.

Their First Meeting:

Natalie: [On phone:] There's hardly a mark on him. Are you sure you didn't make a mistake? [This conversation is intercut with close-ups of Nick on the autopsy table. His wounds seal themselves, and his eyes move under his closed eyelids.] Well, I mean, this guy looks like he just barely cut himself shaving this morning. [Nick's eyes open and he leaps from the table, eyes glowing and fangs bared. Nat gasps and drops the phone. He growls at her.] What the hell? You were dead. A minute ago. Who are you?

Nick: You don't need to know. [He growls again.]

Natalie: What are you?

Nick: Something very different from you. [He grabs a unit of blood, bites the top off, and drinks it.]

Nick: I am a vampire.

Natalie: Vampire?

Nick: Yes.

[Natalie approaches, fascinated. She reaches for Nick's face; he snatches her hand and holds it away for a moment, then brings it close to his mouth.]

Natalie: Oh...you're so cold.

Nick: I'm dead. [They stare into each other's eyes.]

Natalie: No. No, you're not. You're not dead.

Natalie: "I have faith. There is a future for us. Here as we are or somewhere else. I believe in you. I trust in you. Make love to me. Take just a little at a time."

Natalie: "I'm not afraid of death. Or of an eternity in darkness as long as I can spend it with you. All I have is faith and love. All I'm asking is for you to make love to me. I trust you."
